Baby Karson is here!! 11/09/09

Well baby Karson Reed Prince was born November 9th, 2009 at 6:48pm and weighed 9.8lbs and 20.5 inches long. I was in labor for 8 hours....dilated to an 8 and then I evidently developed placenta preevia and my placenta started to tear away from the uterus and tried to deliver before Karson. So....I was rushed to the OR and had an emergency C-section to save Karson and myself. It was extremely scary. Since they couldn't get me numbed quick enough and there was no time to wait....they put me all the way to sleep. I woke up in the recovery room by myself and had to be told everything that happened by the nurses. Not the way I had pictured it going for sure. I wasn't able to see Karson for another 12 hours...which was hard. I felt like I had just gone through birth and missed the whole thing......hard. Obviously the most important thing is that Karson is healthy. He did aspirate blood and ambiotic fluid and it took them way longer to get out than expected. He has to go to the NICU for about 36 hrs but was changed to my room after that. He is such a sweet baby....sleeps a LOT during the day....awake several hours at night. He smells wonderful....has the cutest grin....makes it all worth it.
